Riceland Introduces Rough Rice Grade #2 with no discount for effective inventory management

Riceland Introduces Rough Rice Grade #2 with no discount for effective inventory management

Details

As a farmer-owned cooperative, Riceland has a farmer friendly grading system (as we should) for rice when compared to USDA standards. Currently there is a large gap in grading factors between a Riceland #1 rice and #3 rice. By introducing a #2 rice and slightly adjusting grading factors for #3 , this will allow for a higher level of inventory management and more effective marketing of the rice. When using these new factors and comparing them to receipts for the 2023 crop, the additional discounts for #3 rice were negligible.

This will put the cooperative in the best position possible for marketing rice either via rough rice sales or milled rice sales. Please contact Freddie Gahr, Daniel Mayer or Dee Davis with any questions.

Thank you for your patronage and Go Big Blue!
