USDA Announces Rice Production Program Sign Up

USDA announced on May 5 that pre-filled applications will be mailed to eligible participants starting the week of May 8

Details

USDA announced on May 5 that pre-filled applications will be mailed to eligible participants starting the week of May 8. Participants have until July 10 to return the form to FSA by mail, email, or in-person. An initial payment of one cent per pound will be made once the form is returned to the county office and approved by staff. Timing of payment should be similar to ERP phase one payments.

The form will show the formula used to calculate the payment and how much the payment will be. The formula is based on a participant's share of payments as shown on their Form 578, certified rice acres for 2022, RMA average production history (APH) (if you do not have an APH, the area yield will be used), and the payment rate.

Sometime after July 10, once the balance of funds remaining in the program is determined, a final payment will be made.
