Christopher Staal has been a dedicated member of Riceland Foods for 30 years, exemplifying the values of hard work, leadership, and a positive attitude. Beginning his career as a power curve operator, Chris advanced to control room operator and is now an A Foreman. Throughout his career, he has consistently gone above and beyond, showing a deep commitment to Riceland, his colleagues, and the farmers the company serves.

Chris is known for his unwavering dedication, reliability, and solutions-focused mindset. He approaches every challenge with a positive attitude and a willingness to help, no matter the circumstances. Even while facing personal medical challenges, Chris has remained steadfast in his responsibilities, ensuring that work is completed with the utmost quality. He has trained countless employees, mentoring them so they can grow within the company and take on new opportunities.

A few examples of Chris’s leadership highlight his impact: when his department struggled to fill a third-shift control room position, Chris voluntarily moved to third shift to train new hires, ensuring smooth operations. During challenging deadlines, he has organized peer-support systems, checked in with colleagues, and fostered collaboration that strengthened the team long-term. He has also used his operational knowledge to create efficiencies, such as eliminating 50,000 pounds of rice per week from needing to be remilled, benefiting both the company and the farmers.

Chris’s positive impact extends beyond his work. He offers guidance, encouragement, and mentorship to new and seasoned employees alike. He has been a source of support in learning new systems, taking the time to ensure coworkers feel confident and capable. His calm, steady presence inspires those around him, and his integrity and dedication make him a trusted leader.
